- (Fall 2011) I went to Chile for a 10-week internship with Fundación Educación Popular en Salud during the spring of 2011. It was a wonderful experience that I haven't been able to encapsulate into a single story or thought process (and I'm happy to say that I don't think I ever will), but I did write a few updates on this blog and the blog for the Oregon University System's IE3 Global Internships Program. One of the latter posts was chosen as a feature for a newsletter produced by the Office of International Affairs at Portland State University. It was the first time in a decade that I got to be a part of print copy, and it was also my first time dealing with someone strange editing my work (I think I did fairly well with that...). Take a look! (The piece is on page 20).
- (Fall 2001) Young me! I wrote a short story for my 8th grade Civil War history concentration, and my then best friend and my parents suggested that I submit it for the local paper's annual short story contest. I read it now and blush at the (what I perceive as) high level of purple prose. But it still makes me smile.
